Bids fall to 5.97 eurocents/kWh at auction for solar plants with storage
On 25 September, Ukraine held an auction to allocate a 100 MW support quota for new solar power plants with energy storage. According to Andriy Herus, winning bids ranged from 5.97 to 9.30 eurocents/kWh against a ceiling of 12 eurocents/kWh, a reduction of 22.5–50.25%.
Based on the auction protocol, 26 bids with a combined 385.943 MW were submitted, almost 3.86 times the quota. They came from 24 companies, with Lightday submitting three separate bids. Herus commented on the results by saying there had been genuine competition.
He reported seven winners and called the auction the first successful competitive auction for new "green" generation, even though the mechanism was provided for in legislation back in 2019.
The lowest price, 5.97 eurocents/kWh, was offered by Lightday, owned by Hryhorii Hrytsachenko and Mykhailo Tanasevych, in two bids of 1.5 MW each. The company's third bid, for 1 MW, was priced at 7.50 eurocents. Next came Embud, Rozvytok Enerhetyky of the Derevytskyi family group, Silhospremtekhnika, owned by Güris, and Energy RTB 2 of the Kernel group.
The first seven bids belong to five legal entities. Their combined capacity is 101.75 MW, which exceeds the lot size. In particular, after the first six bids, 78.25 MW remains, whereas the seventh, from Energy RTB 2, is for 80 MW.

Ranking and capacities are from the auction protocol; owners and corporate groups are based on open registry data and company registry records.
Under the auction terms, the capacity of the energy storage units must be at least 80% of the solar plant's installed capacity, and the storage capacity at least 2 kWh for every 1 kW of solar generation.
