Another Ukrainian company starts exporting biomethane
Teofipol Energy Company exported biomethane of its own production for the first time in August 2026, industry sources report.
Early in 2026 the company commissioned a biomethane plant in Khmelnytskyi Region, which became the largest in Ukraine: its design capacity is about 56 million cubic metres of biomethane a year. The facility is connected directly to the gas transmission system.
First shipments to Hungary
According to available information, in August the company exported a small volume to Hungary, about 45,000 cubic metres. The gaseous biomethane was delivered through Ukraine's gas transmission system. The buyer in Hungary was ERU Europe. Market participants estimate that the price of the biomethane could have been around USD 1,000 per thousand cubic metres.
The company is expected to continue exporting its own biomethane in September, with volumes possibly rising to 200,000 cubic metres. It is estimated that the company produces about 1.4–2.8 million cubic metres of biomethane a month.
Who else exports biomethane
Teofipol Energy Company became the fifth Ukrainian company to export biomethane and the fourth to export gaseous biomethane by pipeline. In 2025, Ukrainian companies exported over 11.2 million cubic metres of gaseous biomethane of their own production.
Biomethane exports began in February 2025 with Vitagro. Besides it, gaseous biomethane has been exported by MHP and Hals Agro. Two Ukrainian companies, MHP and YuM Liquid Gas, also export liquefied biomethane (bio-LNG).
